Tell us about your favorite FWQ competition run in 2019.
My favorite competition run in 2019 was probably NorAm Champs in Kirkwood, CA. The snow conditions were funky, but knowing I had nothing to lose I chose a line I really wanted to ski. It had a few fun moves at the top (which I admit I missed inspecting as I thought I was going to do something else) with a bigger air in the middle and a fun ski out. I did my regular routine at the start, which includes lots of dancing by myself, and endless joking and laughing with friends. Out of the start gate I knew it was going to be an awesome ski. Off my first air I was a little tentative, but the landing was the best on the venue and those next few turns were memorable to say the least. The rest of the run went smoothly and was oh so much fun. Skiing through the finish always reminds me of how much I love this sport, but this finish was something even more special.
Where is your favorite place to compete?
Favorite place so far? Taos, NM and Crested Butte, CO are my home mountains and I absolutely love going back to them, but I also love Crystal, WA... Oh and Revelstoke, BC is alright too. And, maybe Kicking Horse, BC? This is a tough question. I just like skiing, I guess. Anywhere, anytime :)
What is your favorite part about the Freeride community?
Definitely the people. I wouldn't change any winter in the past eight years one bit. The friendships fostered through the Freeride community are so unique, and having like-minded friends across the world with couches I can crash on anytime is priceless.
How are you preparing for your rookie year on the 2020 FWT?
I'm an avid runner, so.... running lots of mountains with my dog Bodhi!
What are you most looking forward to on the FWT Tour?
Definitely meeting more rad people. I look forward to skiing and traveling with already good friends, and can't wait to meet new ones.
